Becoming Proficient in English PDF Print E-mail

English is such an interesting and rich language.  Here are some trivia: (a) Did you know that there is no word that rhymes with "month"?; (b) The word "dreamt" is the only word in the English language that ends in "mt"; (c) The symbol # is called an octothorpe and the symbol & is an ampersand; (d) the word "boondocks" came from the Tagalog word "bundok"; and (e) words like kill, daemon, burn, worms, viruses, rip, and others, besides new words like "phishing", malware, etc., lent their hand in the English language

Information Technology has its own jargon, so it may be easy to get lost with some of the basic rules on English grammar, structure, composition, and style.  Hence, why not refresh/review your English skills?  Please attend the next PSITE NCR MSW on "English Proficiency for IT Educators" on Feb. 18, 2009, 8AM-5PM at UE-Recto.  This two-part series aims to improve the proficiency of IT educators on the English Language.  See you all there!!!

A fun-filled party yet with a worth-pondering message --- that’s how the PSITE-NCR celebrated this year’s Christmas!

In the evening of December 5, 2008, educators from different schools in the NCR had their chance to unwind from the demands of their work and enjoy the company of one another.  Two energetic educators in the person of Ms. Rosemarie Coronejo and Mr. Jobert Bravo served as emcees and game masters of the night. The party started with an invocation by Mr. Jude Clemente, a PSITE-NCR Board member and followed by a welcome address by Mr. Jobert Bravo, the Coordinator of the CS Department of FEU-East Asia College, the venue of the party.

The attendees were treated with a buffet dinner showcasing home-cooked food.  Yum, yum....
