PSITE NCR Board, led by its President John Ruero, together with some PSITE NCR members, attended the IT Skills Standards Seminar held last 24-Jan-2012 at the New World Hotel. This ITSS seminar is a joint cooperation of Japan Overseas Development Cooperation (JODC) and the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), in collaboration with the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), and with full support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.
The ITSS is the index which clarified and systematized business capability to develop IT engineers. A Common Career Framework provides a model to classify job category (and specialty field), and a level to figure out IT engineers skills. By defining a job category and specialty field, we can effectively develop human resources and in turn, be able to provide servcies. There are at least eleven (11) job categories which include Consultant, Architect, Project Management, IT and Application Specialists, Software Development, Education and others; while there are 35 specialty fields, ranging from IT Outsourcing, System Management, Platform, Network, Operating Systems, Hardware, and others.
PSITE NCR will explore the ITSS orientation to its members in the coming months! This is a very useful framework to help develop the workforce!
