[NEWS] Zipping through a successful PSITE National Convention

The 14th PSITE National Convention was held at GenSan City on February 23-25, 2012, attended by more than 240 participants from various regional chapters in the Philippines.  The Honorable Mayor Darlene Custodio welcomed the participants to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, while guests and speakers in the three-day seminar shared their experiences on linkages, research, community service, etc.  PSITE National President Dr. Randy Gamboa took the opportunity to present the report of the National Board’s accomplishment and highlights for the year 2011-2012.

One of the highlights of the event was the signing of the memorandum of agreement between PSITE and PhilNITS, with Ms. Maricor Akol, Dr. Randy Gamboa, and the rest of the PSITE National Board 2011-2012 witnessing the event.  Further, two new faces were elected to the PSITE National Board, namely Dr. Neil Balba of Region 4 and PSITE NCR president John Ruero, who also was elected as the PSITE National External Vice-President.  The program for the second day was loaded, with speakers from IBM, Pinoy Robot Games Foundation, Beacon Solutions, SMART (a major sponsor) delivering their respective talks.  On the third day, each regional president was given the opportunity to present its chapters’ accomplishments following presentations from Commissioner Mon Ibrahim and Geospatial Solutions.

A side tour on the longest and highest zip line in Southeast Asia, GenSan city and nightlife, Tuna Market, and Lake Sebu, completed the successful convention!  For more details, the PSITE National Convention chair will provide copies of the presentations to the attendees.  Congratulations to a successful PSITE National Convention!   Many thanks to the PSITE National Board for staging the convention.  Mabuhay ang PSITE!
