Cookies Policy

Our approach

PN Info runs on a minimal-cookie model. The site is a static content site — no accounts, no logins, no personalisation — and it does not need much in the way of client-side state. What we do set is either purely functional or, in a small number of cases, aggregated to help operations.

What we set

• Session cookie — a short-lived cookie set by the web server to maintain HTTP session continuity. Expires when the browser closes.
• Preference cookie — if a reader ever chooses a display preference (for example, a print-friendly view), the choice is stored locally so it persists. Expires after twelve months of inactivity.
• Security cookie — used by the hosting provider's edge platform to help detect abusive traffic. Expires after thirty days.

That is the full list. There is no advertising cookie. There is no third-party analytics cookie that identifies you. There is no cross-site tracker.

What we do not set

Explicitly not present on this site:

• Advertising cookies from ad networks.
• Behavioural profiling cookies of any kind.
• Third-party social-media share-button cookies.
• Retargeting or remarketing cookies.
• Analytics cookies that attach an identifier to individual visitors.

Third-party cookies

PN Info does not embed third-party components that set cookies on our pages. Where a page links out to a whitelisted external source — for example the Federal Register of Legislation or the Australian Attorney-General's Department — those sites operate their own privacy and cookies policies, which take effect only if you click through.

Managing cookies

Because we only set essential cookies, there is no in-page "manage preferences" widget. If you prefer to block cookies outright, every modern browser allows that at the browser-settings level. Blocking cookies on this site will not stop content displaying; it may slow the security-review layer, which is generally acceptable for casual browsing.

Changes to this policy

If the cookie list changes materially, we will update this page and reflect the change in the effective date. Small clarifications are made without formal notice.
